Registration is Now Open for the 2026 Hope, Health & Healing 5K Walk & Run
Every year, people of all ages gather to walk side by side—not just for exercise, but to remember loved ones, support one another, and remind our community that hope is always possible.
We're excited to announce that registration is now open for the 2026 Hope, Health & Healing 5K Walk & Run, hosted by Zero Suicide Elko County. We invite you to join us on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Great Basin College for a morning dedicated to hope, healing, and suicide prevention.
The morning begins with registration at 8:00 a.m., followed by our opening ceremony at 8:30 a.m., with the walk and run beginning at 8:45 a.m. Whether you're an experienced runner, prefer a leisurely walk, are pushing a stroller, or bringing your dog along, everyone is welcome. This event isn't about how quickly you cross the finish line—it's about coming together and showing that no one has to face life's challenges alone. New this year, we'll also be hosting mental health awareness and suicide prevention resource booths inside the Great Basin College Atrium.
For many participants, this walk is deeply personal. Some walk in memory of someone they've lost to suicide. Others walk in support of a friend or family member who has struggled with their mental health. Many simply want to help create a community where conversations about mental health are welcomed, resources are accessible, and asking for help is seen as a sign of strength.
When you register with our recommended $20 donation, you'll receive an event T-shirt, Hope beads, and a pet bandana if your four-legged walking buddy is joining you. We also offer a Walk Only Registration for those who would simply like to participate, because we believe everyone should have the opportunity to be part of this meaningful event. Businesses that have sponsored employee teams can register through our Corporate Team Registration. If your business is interested in becoming a sponsor, please let us know by contacting us HERE.
Registration is available online through Zeffy, our nonprofit fundraising platform. We chose Zeffy because 100% of your registration goes directly to Zero Suicide Elko County—we pay no processing fees. During checkout, you'll notice an optional contribution to Zeffy to help keep the platform free for nonprofits. This amount is completely adjustable, and you can reduce it to as little as $1 before completing your purchase.
To help make check-in quick and easy on event day, you'll also complete our event liability waiver during the online registration process.
Every registration helps support the ongoing work of Zero Suicide Elko County, including suicide prevention education, community outreach, support groups, local resources, and trainings that help build a stronger, healthier community. Together, we're creating a future where more people know how to recognize when someone needs help, where to turn for support, and how to start conversations that can save lives.
We hope you'll join us on September 12 as we walk for those we've lost, stand beside those who are struggling, and celebrate the hope, health, and healing that can happen when a community comes together.
Registration is now open, and we'd love to have you walk with us.
